History

The Cobh club has a very strong Camogie section. Re-established in 2008 by Mairéad Kearney and Colm Damery to cater for the hurling needs of the girls of Cobh, the Camogie club started out with 25 girls training each Saturday morning in the first year. The numbers grew to 45 in 2009 and the club entered teams in the under 11 and under 13 East Cork leagues, as well as the under 12 County league. In only it's third year in existence the Camogie club had 80+ juvenile players and had teams entered in competitions from under 11 up to under 14. In 2010 a big effort was made to re-establish the adult (Junior) Camogie in Cobh. This has proven very successful and the Junior team is now thriving. There are many coaches involved with the training of various teams each week. The club has continued to grow and now has over 180 members. The club now has teams ranging from U8 all the way to Junior. The Cúl Camp summer camp is run annually for all members. Club gear can be bought from the Club Shop located in the top Gaa pitch. Hurleys can be purchased at training. Spare helmets are available to borrow for training when girls are starting off. Helmets can also be bought from the club at subsidised prices. All players, new and old, are welcome to come along and get involved.
