U14 and U16 East hurling titles come to Cobh

U14 Title: Cobh 6-08 St. Catherine’s 3-14. The U14 hurlers finished off their season in style and excitement by beating county champions St. Catherine’s in the league decider at Cobh on Sunday night last. Having suffered defeat in the East Cork championship final this win was a great fillip for the team. Jason Keating and Kieran Histon were real leaders on the field and when Glenn O'Sullivan popped up to goal for Cobh with only two minutes remaining the huge Cobh following were delighted. Well done to all who played so well on the night and to the lads who have looked after the team during a long season.

U16 Title: Cobh 1-15 Carrignavar 1-8. Cobh captured the U16 lge title to go along with the U14 lge title picked up last week when they defeated Carrignavar in a game which the visitors led up until midway through the second half. In fact, it was not until Derek Keaney goaled with only 3 minutes remaining that any daylight was put between the teams. Half time substitutes Kieran Histon and Jason Keating made a significant impact for Cobh, while, Tony O’Donovan and Conor McLoughlin, once again, were rock solid at the back and John Flanagan put in a strong performance up front for a Cobh team which collectively upped their game in the 2nd half when the need was greatest.
