Camogie

The Cobh club has a very strong Camogie section. Re-established in 2008 by Mairéad Kearney and Colm Damery to cater for the hurling needs of the girls of Cobh, the Camogie club started out with 25 girls training each Saturday morning in the first year. The numbers grew to 45 in 2009 and the club entered teams in the under 11 and under 13 East Cork leagues, as well as the under12 County lge. In only it’s third year in existence, the camogie club have 80+ juvenile players and have teams entered in competitions from under 11 up to under 14, and in year 4 the U16 girls captured the first trophy for the re-established club when they won the County league. There are a big number of coaches involved with the girls each week with training groups organised according to age and ability.

Hurleys can be purchased at training. Spare helmets are available to borrow for training when girls are starting off and helmets can be bought from the club at a subsidised price once the player decides she wants to stay involved.

Junior Camogie:

In 2010 a big effort was made to re-establish the adult (Junior) camogie team in Cobh. This has proven very successful and the junior team is now thriving. All players, new and old, are welcome to come along and get involved.
